The team that topped the eastern heat beat 18 other teams in the final by reaching all 30 pit stops and finishing with a time of 283 minutes - just one minute more than runners up Kaniva College.

Camberwell Grammar's team captain James Mullins was stoked with his team's win.

"What an awesome day. We had loads of fun and are so amped that we won. Our strategy was to get to every pit stop, which we did! We used mainly trams because they can get us all over the city. We've learned lots about getting to cool stuff in the city on public transport."

Well done to all teams that made it to the 2010 Metlink Great Transport Race Grand Final on a very fun and exciting competition.

Lunch pit stop entertainment to be hoops of fun

12.04.10

The Metlink Great Transport Race is all about surprises - where will the pit stops be? What crazy activities will you complete to earn bonuses? Which team will come out on top? None of these can be answered or revealed until the day of your suburban heat of course.

However, there is one surprise we just can't keep a lid on any longer. And that's ... the lunch time entertainment and interactive fun!

It was hard to top last year's breakdancing crew that had kids busting moves all over the place for bonus time, but this may match that experience.

This year your lunch pit stop activity will feature hula hoop extraordinaire Carly Williams. As well as showing you what she can do, you'll have the chance to give hula hooping a go and learn some new party tricks.

Carly learnt from the best hip swivellers in the business at the National Institute of Circus Arts and is set to show you how it's done.

Don't worry, there's less than three weeks until the western heat so you don't have to contain your excitement for long.

Check out hints + tips if you want a head start.

See you at the suburban heats racers.

If you think 2010 is your school's year for fame and glory, and you're willing to work for it, the Metlink GTR is the event for you.

Spend time exploring the website and find out what it's all about - how it works, when the heats are and how to register. Race is a good place to start.

The next step is convincing a teacher to register your school. Tell them to check out the teacher section.
